How to actually get a good physique
If you have the body of a Greek Adonis you’ll probably be more than happy to make that skimpily clad strut across a packed beach, but for many, donning that bikini or those sometimes over-revealing, buttock hugging swimming trunks sported by middle age men all over the country, may not be a very appealing prospect.
No matter how much you long to absorb those afternoon rays. If toning up that torso or shedding a few pounds in preparation for beach patrol is your summer goal then get in training…but train the right way, in a manner that encourages your body to burn MORE fuel, MORE of the time! Try these methods of training to optimize fat loss, but ensure you consult a fitness professional for a risk assessment prior to starting physical activity.
Use intensive interval training
Forget low intensity training, that’s right, the more intense the training session, the more calories are burnt both during and after you’ve finished training. Perform a 200 metre run, row or cycle as fast as possible then rest/walk back for 3-5 minutes recovery. Repeat this three to four times followed by a slow 400 metre jog at the end to warm down. Unless you’re an Olympic athlete, you wont be able to train any longer!
Make your muscles work
To develop good muscle tone you must make a muscle work at its full potential, and this means lifting weights! Why not use heavy weight when you consider that muscle uses more energy than any other tissue in the body, therefore the stronger your muscle is, the more fat it will break down for energy. And don’t worry ladies, you wont turn into a body builder! Keep your weights heavy enough so you can only lift them for six repetitions and rest for at least 3 minutes between sets and you’ll stay slender, but more toned and lean.
Train the whole of your body
Many people think that by doing abdominal crunches and tricep exercises they will reduce their ‘belly and bingo wings’ but this doesn’t happen. Train your full body by using exercises such as squats, lunges and shoulder presses in a standing position, this means you waste more energy trying to support and push the weight at the same time, simple you see!
